Oil on canvas, 42" x 44", 2016.
Braddock is situated along the Monongahela River a few miles south of Pittsburgh, PA. It is the archtypical Rust Belt steel town. Since the collapse of American steel beginning in the 1980s, Braddock has lost 90% of its population, and the Edgar Thomson Works, seen looming in the background, have lost a similar percentage of steelworkers.
